EVEN FOR A PRINCE
I might have shuffled off all my cards
When I came up to some shiny stars
I let my fingertips slide along
To shape angles that are only wrong…
I guess I've dreamed
About a casual prince
Horizons lean
Got a little hint
I slither 'bout on that tricky path
My left foot set down on aftermath
My bag full of pieces that can't join
For the half-smile of a teasing boy…
I guess I've dived
Into a morning mist
That doesn't rise
Even for a prince
Now I hide my hands and shake my head
I dare a mere sidelong glance instead
I turn myself to another moon
Who could tell I'm a bit of a loon…
I leave it off and shrug my shoulders
Only she can make my eyes lower
I guess I've sighed
Once or twice over it
But I can't lie
Even for a prince
